Do I need to book an appointment?
Bookings are essential for all consultations. You can contact our reception staff directly on
(03) 9682 6029 and they will aim to find a suitable time for you. Alternatively, you can book online via our website or HotDoc.
What if I have to change an appointment?
Please contact the clinic immediately on (03) 9682 6029 if you will be unable to make your appointment. Our staff will be happy to change your appointment to a future date. Our policy requires you to notify us within 12 hours of your appointment time should you be unable to attend. Note that a cancellation fee applies after this period.
Do I need a referral?
A GP referral is only required if you are coming to see one of our Sports Doctors. Any letter from a treating practitioner may be helpful to our clinicians when coming for an initial consult.
Do I need to bring anything?
Please remember to bring any information relating to your condition (x-rays, ultrasound scans etc.) to your appointment. If you are seeing one of our Sports Doctors or Podiatrist, bring along some comfortable clothing and sports shoes.
Do I need to pay for the visit on the day?
Yes, Lakeside Sports Medicine Centre has a strict policy for payment on the day of your consultation. Please note that HICAPS is available for at our clinic to claim on physiotherapy, podiatry, dietetics and myotherapy. Private health insurance usually only provides a partial rebate of the fee charged and you should enquire with your relevant health fund for more information.
Do you treat WorkCover and TAC Patients?
Yes. If you have lodged a claim with either of these organisations please bring in all relevant documents including your claim number and case manager details for us to process. We still require payment on the day of your consultation however the amount will be refundable with your given insurance agency.
How long does an appointment take?
This varies case-by-case and depends on the services you are receiving. Please contact reception directly on (03) 9682 6029 should you have any queries.
Does Private Health Insurance cover my treatment?
This will depend on your policy. Most policies with ancillary or extras cover will provide a rebate for the services provided at Lakeside Sports Medicine Centre. HICAPS is available so you will only need to pay the gap on the day (Consultation Fee – Health Fund Rebate = Gap). Please contact your relevant health fund should you have any queries regarding rebates.
Will Medicare cover any of my costs?
This will depend on the type of service. You may be entitled to a Medicare rebate for some of the services given by our doctors. If you’d like to know more about this please contact our reception staff on (03) 9682 6029 for more information. Items covered by private health insurance are usually not approved to receive any further benefits from Medicare.
Is parking available?
Yes. There is free 1 hour parking and $5.20 per hour following that. There are plenty of spots available either in the Multi-Deck Car Park or the Southern Car Park however, given the high number of patrons visiting MSAC on a daily basis please allow ample time to make your appointment. You will be advised if there are any events (e.g. Melbourne Grand Prix) which will limit parking availability.
