Sports Nutrition Advice
Our Dietitian is an Accredited Sports Dietitian from Sports Dietitians Australia. Accredited Sports Dietitians are specially trained in working with elite and recreational athletes, from a diverse range of backgrounds. Sports Dietitians are able to provide specific, individualised and evidence based nutrition advice to improve performance, assist with injury management and rehabilitation, and also provide supplement recommendations.
What role that an accredited Sports Dietitian (AccSD) can play in your recovery/injury management?
Not only are your bodies fuelled by nutrients, requiring them for survival, when you are healing, having inadequacies in your nutrition may slow this process, or even increase your risk of future injury.
Furthermore, there are some instances where your body requires certain nutrients in higher amounts than you would normally, which may or may not require specific supplementation. There a whole host of factors that may require nutrition support during injury/rehabilitation including:⠀
- Providing the building blocks for tissues (e.g. bone, muscle, connective tissue) to heal.⠀
- Attenuating chronic inflammation that may cause ongoing pain, and damage.⠀
- Preventing significant increases in fat mass, or losses to lean mass, which may delay your return to sport.⠀
- Reducing extra strain on your tissues, which may have led to the injury development in the first place.⠀
